Getting started with your class webpage
Take notice of the new layout in this website creator system! Yes, it looks different and may be a bit confusing at first. Take your time, don't panic and what you know will come back to you! To get started this year, click on the question mark at the top of this page and choose the site planner option.
The first thing to do is to think of a TITLE for your page.
Next, do you have a digital copy of your weekly schedule. Make one using Word or Excel. You want to save it as a pdf file when you are done creating it.
What message are you trying to convey?
What kinds of images would you like to post, if any.
How many pages do you want? You can add a blog page, a comments page or pages with your assignments.
It is required that you post your weekly schedule, your standards/objectives and materials (programs you use for teaching, not individual assignments!)

Weebly.com is fast, fun and free!
Go to www.weebly.com and sign up for the free, educator version. (Ask me about the pay version if you are interested.)
Once you get there it will ask you for your full name, email and a password.
It will ask you to give your page a title. Then it will ask for you to give it a subdomain--this is the address or URL of your sight.
Write this stuff down so it will make for easier access later on!
Create the account and then when we meet I can show you how to navigate the webhost.

NOW YOU ARE READY TO START ADDING ELEMENTS, DESIGNS AND PAGES TO YOUR SITE.
I highly recommend that you login to your weebly account at least once or twice a week this year. This will help with remembering your login. If you do nothing else, you will at least remember your account!
NEXT,
I would recommend linking your schedule, standards, fave internet sites, etc. HOW?
SELECT THE PAGE YOU WANT TO PUT LINKS ON. DRAG THE PARAGRAPH WITH TITLE ELEMENT ONTO THE PAGE. THEN, JUST BELOW THE EDITOR PAGE YOU WILL SEE A BLUE BAR, ABOUT THE CENTER YOU WILL SEE ONE LINK. HIGHLIGHT THE TEXT (MUST HAVE SOMETHING TO CONNECT THE LINK TO) THEN CHOOSE THE LINK. A PAGE POPS UP ASKING YOU IF YOU WANT TO LINK A WEBSITE, TO ANOTHER WEBPAGE OF YOURS AND TO A FILE ON YOUR COMPUTER. CHOOSE THE ONE YOU WANT TO DO.
REMEMBER TO ALWAYS SAVE YOUR WORK BY CLICKING THE ORANGE PUBLISH BUTTON. THEN WHEN IT INFORMS YOU THAT YOUR SITE HAS BEEN PUBLISHED, CLOSE THE NEXT WINDOW BECAUSE IT IS JUST AN ADVERTISEMENT!

How to add a calendar
The best type of calendar for this site is one from Google. Sign up for a google account if you do not have one. Create a calendar in google. Add events and such to the calendar.
Then, go to the HELP! command when in the weebly editing mode and follow the directions. There are quite a few steps to follow but they are not hard, just confusing at first. One thing I recommend is that while in the editing mode, take notice of the CUSTOM HTML element that you will need to drag to your page in order to insert the google calendar.
